I was writing some notes today for an upcoming newsletter (sign up link in my bio) … and mentioned how much I enjoy the connections made and the adventures shared on Instagram.
I especially enjoy, my ‘secret’ pleasure if you like, watching adventurous people building tiny homes and living the van-life! I get to live vicariously through their lens .. I won’t ever be doing that myself!!
Then I wondered, when did I start this Instagram account for Quiet Mind Meditation?
So. I scrolled through my feed (it took much longer than I thought) and finally found my first ever Instagram post -
dated: 2 October 2013!
So glad it was a positive and inspiring quote! I have always been a lover and collector of quotes .. and this one is perfect for #1
and the wisdom is just as meaningful today.
I also got a kick out of seeing some old posts again, memories forgotten or lost in time.

Finding a comfortable meditation posture can make

Finding a comfortable meditation posture can make ALL the difference!!
Today, I welcomed a new zabuton into my morning meditation.
A zabuton is a large, square, usually cotton-filled cushion that sits on the floor, under the smaller meditation cushion.
On these colder mornings, this extra layer between me and the floor .. is so welcoming.
Along with my trusty meditation shawl to cocoon myself in, I’m more prepared for my morning ‘sit’.
Finding a comfortable meditation posture can help:
- remove a key barrier to sitting for meditation (discomfort can stop us from even starting)
- the body to settle and relax more quickly, and easily
- then, as the body softens, so will your mind
- with distractions that arise from sensations associated with physical discomfort, and the mental chatter that’s associated
- you experience a greater sense of being ‘grounded’
* you might find that you also linger a little longer in that sweet meditative space.

I’m back for a LIVE weekly guided meditation!

I first began offering a weekly Live meditation way back in March 2020 (until early 2022). It was a great way to connect with others, and share meditation as a powerful tool for releasing stress and managing the natural anxiety everyone was feeling at the time.
I am excited to return to this simple offering - every week:
To Pause, Rest + Refresh.
This is a free class, hosted on Zoom but participants will not be on view. A recording will also be made available to view on-demand (for 30 days).

I loved this quote that I read just this afternoon.
A lovely reflection on my earlier post today, sharing where I go to find seclusion and retreat in daily life.
I find myself drawn to the breathtaking vistas and connection with nature that can (gratitude) be found quite close to my home.
Walking pretty much the same path each day, day on day, gives me an incredible sense of the seasons .. watching the ocean move from bright summer blue to a dark, mysterious grey, and the constant changing greenery and shifting sands.
Just as humans have done since ancient times, taking pilgrim paths to monasteries set on high cliff tops, forest hermitages or mountain caves, we seek wild places in order to connect with nature and divine forces. We are drawn to these places and spaces because they ground and inspire us, and fulfil our timeless desire for seclusion and retreat.
Perhaps there is a mountain or river or sacred place that you can spend time at, this coming weekend.

This is my magic window.
Each day on my #MindfulMorningWalk my intention is to practice what I call ‘Seasonal Mindfulness’ … to open my eyes, heart, and spirit to the wonders and gifts of the season.
This natural greenery arch appears on my return journey, close to my home, and almost every morning it catches me by surprise, as I round the corner.
The bushes naturally frame this beautiful view … and this view always makes me stop and take a breath. And smile.
Its incredible.
And I often do take a photo .. to carry with me as a reminder .. of the power of being present and aware - to be MINDFUL - of the gifts that are all around us.
I am currently designing a sweet online short course on how I practice #SeasonalMindfulness - and how it has changed my life! COMING SOON.
