There have been very few fresh articles and meditation news in recent weeks .. but February must be the month researchers and publishers get back into office! Here are a couple that I found most interesting ..

1. The Healing Power of Sound: Meditation Research Suggests Sound Can Reduce Anxiety & Pain

Do you include sound and music in your meditation practice? An interesting article referencing research by Washington University in St. Louis, which indicates that sound-based meditation practices can effectively reduce anxiety and pain. The study emphasizes the therapeutic potential of integrating sound into meditation routines. “WashU “sound bath” facilitator and mindfulness researcher Diana Parra Perez, PhD, said sound is not only perceived through the ear, but also by the body through vibrations from sound waves that travel through the air.”

2. Meditation’s Impact on Brain Function:

A study from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai revealed that loving-kindness meditation can alter beta and gamma brain waves, which are associated with mood regulation and memory. This finding suggests potential meditation-based treatments for conditions like anxiety and depression.

‘Meditation in the News’ is my attempt to build a regular habit of reading, digesting and sharing some of the (many) articles and press releases that I receive daily about meditation and meditation research. I hope you enjoy!
