This lovely quote from Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, May helps us reflect on the value of walking bare foot in nature.
Going barefoot outside allows us to feel more connected to the earth, to find balance and stability from the ground beneath us, and may also remind us of our stewardship of the earth.
Grounding (or earthing) is about connecting our bare feet with the earth and has been shown to:
• reduce stress and anxiety
• reduce inflammation in the body
• strengthen and stretch muscles in the feet, ankles and calves
• support self-regulation and sensory exploration
• allow for the absorption of free energy and antioxidants from the earth
• allow for a more rocking motion which is a more natural gait
• provides us with free acupuncture and reflexology

What inspiring words ... to fly to the land of silence.⁣

Right now, I have the house to myself and as I move quietly about my day .. there is silence all around me.⁣
⁣
But often there is not silence within me.⁣
⁣
And at night, surrounded by darkness and no street noise .. there is again silence around me. But often a rave party going on in my mind!⁣
⁣
Only in my meditation practice do I find that inner silence.⁣
⁣
‘She’ (that inner space if stillness and silence) is always there, waiting for me to show up. And in some sense returning to that meditative silence is very much like ‘leaving the land’ and flying to freedom.⁣

I learned to meditate as a teenager and was intrig

I learned to meditate as a teenager and was intrigued from the start. ⁣
⁣
I meditated through high school, through University, while traveling and working, getting married, having a family. ⁣
⁣
My daily meditation practice gave me so much stability and sense of well-being .. a safe refuge in challenging times, a quiet inner confidence and groundedness, a buffer between trigger and response .. a soft place to rest and restore.⁣
⁣
But. I did fall off the meditation-wagon. ⁣
⁣
One time during a big career transition when I was also a single mum. And I’ve never forgotten the day my 8-year old told me that I was “impossible” and that I needed to meditate and I realized that I hadn’t for a while!⁣
⁣
So, for a long time after that, my motivation to meditate was totally clear and heartfelt .. my practice wasn’t about me, it was about being the best possible version of myself in life, so I could be present for those around me.⁣
⁣
I believe that meditation is a ‘life skill’ that everyone can learn and benefit from. ⁣
⁣
And it doesn’t just benefit the meditator .. but ripples out to positively influence our relationships .. with loved ones, friends, colleagues and community.⁣
