One morning in January, while I was still in that gentle summer holiday rhythm … when time slows to a nice, plodding pace … I had a quiet realisation.

The year ahead, 2026, seemed to be inviting (perhaps calling, or even yelling for some of us) that it was time to Pause.

In front of me sat a notebook filled with ideas and tasks – things I needed to do, or wanted to do. On paper they all made perfect sense. But I could feel myself dragging my feet. There was a small resistance there, something not quite formed yet … until one day it was.

I needed to make things simpler. Clearer. And the first place I felt this was with my newsletter, Quiet Mind.

I cannot recall the exact moment I sent my first newsletter. It would have been sometime around 2009 or 2010, after I had been retrenched from my corporate role in the wake of the global financial crisis. During that time I felt a very strong sense of direction to begin Quiet Mind Meditation.

I’ve told this story many times, but back then there were only a handful of people talking about meditation online. I searched high and low to find them. It was surprisingly quiet. In hindsight (don’t you love the wisdom that comes from time), that quietness gave me permission to find my own voice. No one was really watching. And truthfully, there probably wasn’t anyone there to read anything anyway.

So I began.
A small blog. A simple newsletter.

Over the years there have been ebbs and flows. Through the words and reflections shared in Quiet Mind, I have met some wonderful people. I have loved every minute of it. But earlier this year it felt like time for a refresh. A fresh perspective. A new rhythm.

And so Quiet Mind gently evolved into The Quiet Pause.

The intention is simple – to offer you a gentle way to press pause – so you can rest, breathe, and refresh. So your inbox is not filled with more words, but more spaciousness and an invitation to pause. Rather than becoming another noisy newsletter, I wanted to bring a soft focus to a single meditation practice each month. Something simple, supportive, and nourishing.

Just a quiet, consistent rhythm.

Each month you will receive a guided meditation (audio) for our monthly practice. Over the following weeks I will share a few gentle reflections, insights, and small pieces of encouragement to support that practice … quietly arriving in your inbox every Sunday morning at 6am.

Our first guided meditation was The Sacred Pause, sent on Sunday 1st February. I wasn’t quite sure how it would be received. I must admit, I held my breath a little … waiting to see if anyone would listen, or reach out. And the response was wonderful. If the dashboard numbers are anything to go by, the open rate was above 80%, and there were almost 50 listens to the meditation in the first few weeks.

No pressure.
No overwhelm.

Just a pause.

Our practice is The Breath Journey in March 2026. If you feel called to join us see the link below:
