Think: Slowing. Reflecting. Realigning.
Winter is a natural call to solitude and reflection. As I shared recently in my monthly Quiet Mind newsletter .. I struggle with the season of Winter. Not only the cold weather but the seemingly ongoing grey-ness.
“We need nature to show us the way home, the way out of the prison of our own minds.” Eckhart Tolle
Each Winter I tend to step away from too many classes and events, in this way honoring some time for reflection and rest. This year I have strategically scheduled a short writing sabbatical, determined to dive into some space for writing and tapping deeper into the book that I sense waits to be nourished for birth (maybe in Spring).
I realized recently that I have a resistance to Winter.
Resistance is, after all, the root of suffering
The first noble truth of Buddhism is: That there is suffering; not only life itself but how we relate to our experiences in life. And when we resist .. suffering is inevitable.
So my personal lesson this Winter 2018 is to let go of that story that I have around this one season, and redirect my awareness to the unique offerings .. time to create, to see the world in different colours, textures, tastes and textures (Seasonal Mindfulness), to truly relish the moments when blue sky does magically appear, to sleep well and cozy, and take long walks with many layers at the beach.
There are fewer classes scheduled this Winter. But you can keep your meditation practice nourished with our weekly Monday Meditation Musing newsletter or if in Melbourne .. please come along to our new weekly Meditation Collective class.
