This is my invitation to breathe into the seasons with me.
An invitation to gather together on the second Wednesday evening of each month, for a moment to pause, reflect, and tap into the wisdom nature offers us in every phase of the year. As the Earth shifts, so too does our inner world, and I believe that when we bring mindfulness to these transitions, we can foster a deeper sense of harmony and connection with ourselves, and the world around us.
“When I am mindful and guided by the natural world around me,
whether it’s the fire energy of Summer or the reflective pull of Winter, my personal meditation practice becomes expansive, vibrant, and deeply nourishing, and more in sync with the ebb
and flow of life.” – Sarah
Here is my recent example. This time of year often feels like a rush and a blush of energy, a sense of constant push and pull; between bright, warm sunshine and the next minute, unexpected tropical rain and chills. This is Late Spring and with it comes this unique rhythm, one that is nudging us out of the gentle rest of Winter and enticing us towards the fire and vibrancy of Summer. In recent weeks, I have been feeling this shift in energy – waking up hours earlier each morning with a burst of productive energy, only to have lost the urge by midday, and craving a nap in the sunshine under my fig tree! It’s as if the changing winds are stirring up both excitement, and a touch of restlessness within me.
What does this mean for my meditation? well, this is where Seasonal Mindfulness becomes my grounding practice: tuning into, and being guided by these subtle energy shifts. Given my early waking, this has meant I can ease into a longer, more spacious morning meditation, without the need for a timer (instead, I have the rising sun to rouses me). With more early morning time, I have also been able to re-engage with my Qigong morning practice (and study), and I can no longer avoid the (tedious) exercises that I have been avoiding for a foot injury – but all of these are nurturing practices, and they are all supporting my sense of wellbeing .. helping smooth the flow of life energy, so I can best navigate this season of rapid change and emotional sensitivity.
2nd Wednesday of Each Month
I have just listed a fresh series of Seasonal Mindfulness Classes to explore how our meditation can help us harmonise with the unique seasonal energy of the world around us. And, while I will be focusing on the seasonal rhythms found here in my southern hemisphere landscape, these seasonal cycles might be reflected in your day, or your life chapter, wherever you are in the world.
Inside each of monthly class, I will share some of the different forms and styles of meditation, ritual, mindful movement and breath work, that I invite into my personal daily-ish practice each season. We shall start with a gentle breath practice to find stillness, followed by a mindful movement sequence inspired by Qigong to embody the season’s energy, and finally, we’ll settle into a guided meditation for our seasonal practice.
Join us each month to explore how aligning with nature’s flow can inspire and support your journey.
