A Meditative Exercise is a brief and simple practice, based on some of the key elements of longer, more traditional meditation practices. They can be done pretty much anywhere and anytime; empowering us to release some of our day-to-day stress, quickly and easily.
Meditative Exercises allow us to apply to the skill of meditation to the busy-ness of everyday life, and while they may appear subtle at first, they gain significant power with repetition.
The breath is traditionally considered the connection point between body, mind and consciousness. By balancing the breath, we might also balance the mind and this simple focusing exercise is extremely useful when highly agitated or when we need to steady the mind.
In this exercise we imagine, as strongly as we can, that we are alternating our breath at the nostrils. At its core, we are cultivating our ability to watch our breath closely and anchor our awareness to the sense of touch at the nostrils.
